Update: Tuesday 19th May 2020

The government is recommending a wider opening of schools from 1st June 2020 (should government tests be met). The government says that for early years settings, certain groups of children should be given priority.

Places should be provided for: (in priority order)

  1. children of critical workers. See current government list here: (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision)
  2. Three and four year old leavers
  3. Younger three year olds
  4. Two year olds

To begin our process of phased reopening, we must begin by asking parents who are critical workers, and want a space for their child at Willow (times for keyworker children will be 8.45am-2.45pm) to get in touch with us.

Please look at the above document to see if your job title is on this list which in turn means that you are an eligible keyworker.

If you are eligible, please send an email to: office@willownursery.co.uk stating your child’s name and that you would like a keyworker place.

The email must be received by Friday 22nd May 2020 at 10am.

We will then reply by email to confirm your child’s space.

Based on the responses of keyworkers by Friday 22nd May, we will then plan the phased return of the children that are leaving us in July 2020.

Government guidelines at present advise that children should be taught in small, isolated groups, and in early years must adhere to Ofsted prescribed adult to child ratios, which in the main nursery is 1 adult to every 13 children.

The likelihood of our two year old provision being open before September is very unlikely due to us having 109 children on roll during the summer term, and having limited spaces to safely teach groups of children.

Depending on the combined uptake from keyworker children and the July 2020 leavers, we will then be able to decide if we have capacity for red and green group main nursery children to be able to attend.

All further information will appear on our website as and when we are able to make decisions.

Please be aware that we have had very little operational advice from central government. We are still awaiting guidelines that are specific to early years. The government will make final decisions about opening on 1st June on Friday 28th May.
